About Dr Segara
Dr Segara gained his Fellowship in General Surgery in 2002, having done the majority of his training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney.
On completion of his surgical training, he completed his PhD in the Molecular Biology of Pancreatic and Breast cancers at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research in Darlinghurst in 2006.
In 2007, he completed a travelling fellowship with the Breast Surgical Oncology Unit at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School in Boston Massachusetts.
Dr Segara returned to Sydney in 2007, where he has established Breast Surgical Oncology practices in Darlinghurst and Double Bay.
He has continued and specific interests in Minimally Invasive/Minimal Scar Breast Surgery; Breast Conservation Surgery and the Application of Surgical Oncology Principles to Immediate Breast Reconstructive Techniques.
Operative Procedures
Dr Segara performs a range of operative procedures at St Vincent’s Private Hospital. These include Image-guided Localization and Removal of Benign Breast Masses using Minimal Scar Minimally Invasive Techniques, Partial Mastectomy, Total Mastectomy, Sentinel Node Biopsy and Axillary Dissection.
He works closely with experienced plastic and reconstructive surgeons to provide Immediate Breast Reconstructions in select patients where appropriate, and together they offer advanced Oncoplastic Services.
It is very important to note every patient and diagnosis is unique. Depending on your diagnosis, after your consultation Dr Segara will discuss the most appropriate procedure(s) for you.

Dr Segara welcomes referrals from General Practitioners or Specialists for the management of all breast conditions, benign or malignant.
If your referral is urgent, please contact one of our clinics and we will endeavor to organize an urgent appointment to see Dr Segara.
What to bring
For all clinic appointments, please bring along the following:
- Up-to-date referral from your doctor
- All scans including X-rays, Mammograms, Ultrasounds, CTs, MRIs
- Any recent blood tests
- List of medications and allergies
- Medicare and Health Fund details
